“I’m the happiest of my life when I am riding.” This quote sums up Sophie Bennett, a 13 year old girl who is passionate and driven, competing in her chosen sport of Equestrian.
At the age of 8, in her very first horse trials, Sophie was the youngest ever competitor to win both the dressage and overall 1st at the Werribee Pony Club Horse Trials in 2011.
Since then Sophie has ridden a number of different horses and one of the most important attributes of Sophie is her love and dedication for her horses. The story of Sophie and "In your Dreams" AKA Dreamy who Sophie rode throughout 2015 has touched many. At Pony Club State Horse Trials several people approached her parents to comment on how delightful it was to hear Sophie out on cross country saying “Gee I love you Dreamy” as they jumped a tricky A,B,C angled combination. Sophie and Dreamy’s journey was coined by many at Interschool Nationals in 2015, where they placed 6th overall in the EvA95 eventing, as “the story of the week”
Sophie, at the age of 13 is a very keen eventer and has had a very successful 2016 competing on her big Irish Sport Horse, "Branigans Irish Connection" AKA Connie. Even though Sophie and Connie only came together in March of 2016 and Connie had not competed beyond a couple EvA95 horse Trials they achieved the following:
Sophie's goals for the next 12 months are to compete 1* in 2017 (providing EA give her permission due to her age). Sophie hopes to qualify for Melbourne International 3 Day Event and compete at Pony club State Championships Grade 1.
